    We are currently seeking a Project Accountant for our office in Charlotte, North Carolina.


    Successful candidates will be passionate about customer service to our internal team; detail-oriented; efficient; devoted to quality output; able to work independently, as well as in a team environment; possess the organizational skills to prioritize tasks and handle multiple deadlines; and have excellent communication skills.



    • Effectively communicate with Project Managers (PM) and Principals-in-Charge (PIC), regarding contract documents, change orders, other contract modifications, approvals, and any additional services-related to billing
    • Prepare electronic invoice packages containing draft and final invoices for all billable projects, including all applicable backup for markup and approval by project manager
    • Email Final Invoices to Clients
    • Maintain contract records for all projects
    • Assess and pursue opportunities for maximization of client billing
    • Research any unbilled issues to optimize the billing possibilities for the billing period
    • Maintain a continuous line of communication with all relevant parties to clear any outstanding issues
    • Generate electronic profitability reports monthly
    • Set up new projects, make transfers of employee billable hours and/or expenses
    • Write off any uncollectible receivables, labor or expenses, as directed by the PIC
    • Recommend and implement agreed process improvements to the billing cycle
    • Prepare special project analyses for the PICs, PMs and others
    • Provide year-end support of auditor requirements, which may include research and reconcilement
    • Communicate and coordinate with local office leadership
    • Any other responsibilities as assigned




    • 3 or more years of billing and receivables experience in project-based environment
    • Knowledge of the project structure in a client/consultant business environment and best practices
    • Thorough knowledge of standard contract terms, including hourly, lumps sum, not-to-exceed and the application of such throughout the billing process
    • Solid knowledge of modern accounting theory, principles and practices; knowledge of financial record keeping and reporting preferred
    • Extensive experience using Deltek or similar project accounting platform
    • Intermediate to advanced computer literacy, including experience in MS Office
    • Ability to work well with others under tight deadline
    • Good written and verbal communication skills and strong organizational skills
    • Ability to work independently, take initiative, set priorities and see projects through to completion with competing and changing priorities
    • Strong service orientation to internal and external customers
    • Strong work ethic and desire to achieve individual and team goals
    • Excellent interpersonal skills
    • Self-motivated with strong communication skills
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality

    • Available to travel on a limited basis, when required
    • Available to work overtime hours as workload requires

    Work Environment

    Work is performed primarily in a standard office setting.
